Happy Pride month! All but one of these books are directly from my bookshelves, the other is an ARC from NetGalley. I’ve got more unread LGBTQIA+ books on my shelves (embarrassing, I know) so this TBR could’ve been triple the size. Six books for June is more of an aspirational goal. I plan to tackle all of these but I’ll be happy to finish 3 or 4 as there’s some big books on this list.
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab

Toxic Lesbian Vampires. Toxic Lesbian Vampires. Toxic Lesbian Vampires!
This is my most anticipated book of the year! Victoria is my favourite author of all time, I just adore her work. I’ll be at the Edinburgh stop of the Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil book tour so feel free to say hello if you see me!
The Lone Wolf Café by Sydney Wilder

This Sapphic paranormal romance looks like it’ll be the cutest little read to bring back the Halloween vibes. This is a cosy indie romance between werewolf and a witch, set in a coastal town in Maine, USA. Thank you to Wilder and NetGalley for the ARC to review. It’s due to release in September 2025.
Orlando by Virginia Woolf

I’ve been meaning to pick up a Virginia Woolf book for years but just never got around to it. I bought Orlando a few months ago from Gay’s The Word, which I believe is the longest running fully LGBTQIA+ bookshop in London. Orlando is an exploration of gender, spanning four centuries, written by Woolf for her bisexual lover Vita Sackville-West. I’m not that knowledgeable on the relationship between these two woman so would love to discover more. Oh, and I will 100% be watching the movie once I finish the novel. Orlando is played by Tilda Swinton!
The Boy I Love by William Hussey

This is a young adult novel following two young soldiers during World War 1 and their struggles between forbidden love, war and loss. Earlier this year I visited Edinburgh the same time as Hussey completely by coincidence. He had just been into Waterstones to sign copies of The Boy I Love so the next day I went straight to the Waterstones on Princes Street to grab one! You can read about my Edinburgh trip here.
Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann

This is actually a reread and I’m most excited for this one as I’m Asexual myself. 💜 This is a young adult romance which begins with Alice’s girlfriend breaking up with her shortly after she comes out as Asexual. After meeting someone new, she’ll have to decide if it’s worth risking a friendship for something more, if her love will be understood at all.
The Shadow Gate by L.L. MacRae

The Shadow Gate isn’t strictly a queer novel but it does feature a Sapphic relationship between two of the main characters, Calidra and Jisyel. This is the second instalment in MacRae’s epic dragon fantasy series. I’ll be reading this in anticipation of the series finale: The Broken Sword, releasing next month.
