tw: mention of serious illness
Apologies for the lack of posts the last few weeks (or months). My Dad’s liver cancer had grown back, he had to have another major surgery to remove it. Hopefully this’ll be the last time. I’m his primary carer so have been focusing my attention on getting him to his appointments and making sure he’s got everything he needs. I’ve also been selected for a promotion at work so the timing couldn’t be worse. π Balancing looking after Dad and preparing for my new role has taken a lot out of me and as a result, reading and blogging had to be put aside for the time being.
I should be back on a more regular but chilled out blogging schedule going forward. I’m in the middle of a few ARCs at the moment so should be able to get those reviews out by the end of October. I’ll also be attending Tulley’s Pumpkin Nights and MCM London Comic Con this month, expect lots of photo dumps for that.

Since the Equinox I’ve been trying to get into an autumnal, spooky mood. I bought a new sketchbook and have been giving gouache paints a go. I painted the poster of Halloween II in acrylics and it was super fun and relaxing.
What have I been reading recently? I can barely remember, lol. I finished The Long Walk by Stephen King (Richard Bachman) and loved it. Though it did kinda ruin my experience of the movie because all I could think about were all the changes they made for the worse. Some were for the better though! I’m glad Garraty wasn’t a sex pest in the movie. I’m also reading and enjoying No Rest For The Wicked by Rachel Louise Adams – its an investigative murder mystery set in a small town during Halloween. π
Oh, the Young Adult Literature Convention (YALC) is happening in London on the 15th-16th November and I’ll be attending on the Saturday. Do let me know if you’re attending any of these, I need more IRL bookish friends!
How have you all been? Do you feel ready for Halloween yet?
