Hello bookworms, this is my first WWW Wednesday post (hosted by Taking On a World of Words). I’ve been reading these posts for a very long time but have never participated myself. The book tag is a set of three questions asked of book bloggers weekly to see how their reading is getting on.

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Summer Camp for Slasher Victims by Matthew Mercer (no, not that Matthew Mercer). This is an indie horror novels inspired by the summer slasher movies of the 80s. I’m 70 or so pages in and am enjoying it so far. The book title is a very literal. Already I’ve encountered a character inspired by the children Laurie is babysitting in John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978). I’m reading this in preparation for a Summerween blog series I’m planning for the summer.

What have you finished reading?

So I had to check my Goodreads to see what the last book I finished was, oops. The last full novel I finished was Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, as well as volumes 18 & 19 of the Black Butler manga.

What will you read next?

I recently picked up The Burial of the Rats by Bram Stoker. This is a new short story collection put out by Penguin Archive. I read Bram Stoker’s Dracula a few years ago (I’m definitely due a reread), its a brilliant horror novel which has stood the test of time. The collection includes:

  • Dracula’s Guest
  • The Judge’s House
  • Gibbet Hill
  • The Squaw
  • The Burial of the Rats
