Hello readers, hope everyone’s had a good March. Just wanted to check in as the first quarter of 2025 comes to a close.
I know I’ve been a little quiet this month, I’ve had a lot on. 😅
I started studying towards a Masters degree in International Marine Science in January and submitted my first assignment a couple weeks ago. I’m studying part-time via distance learning while still working full-time so its pretty full on. I considered taking a year out of work to do the MSc in one go but I just couldn’t afford all the student expenses without continuing to work. By studying around my job I’m able to keep earning which is great but it does mean my free time is spent studying, not reading and blogging. I’ve got my first exam next month so it’ll still be a little slow on here for the next few weeks.
I’m only read a handful of books this month. I finished Sunrise on the Reaping in just a few days and a couple volumes of the Black Butler manga here and there. I’m reading She-Wolves by Helen Castor whenever I get some time off studying. Its a non-fiction history book about powerful women that were never officially crowned Queens of England. Its really interesting so far. I picked it up at the Medieval Women exhibition at the British Library in London last month. Safe to say I’m definitely in my Medieval girly pop era. ⚔💅🏻

There’s still a couple NetGalley ARCs I need to get to but I’m struggling not only to find the time but the motivation to read them. Nothing to do with the novels themselves though. You might’ve heard that NetGalley have changed the formatting of their ARCs so they’re no longer readable on Kobo devices. I sold my Kindle back in August and replaced it with the Kobo Libra Color (a far superior device, in my opinion). So now I have to read the ARCs on my phone and I’m not a huge fan of it, puts a little too much strain on my eyes after a while.
Although I’m already quite busy between work and university and blogging, I’m starting to plan my first novel! I’ve had a Queer New Adult Horror novel in my brain for a few years know so I need to finally commit to writing it. I plan to have the outline done by end of April and will start writing my first draft in May. No decision has been made yet to whether I’ll try to pursue traditional or independent publishing, I just want to get the first draft out the way. I will of course keep you updated on my writing journey!
As always,
