In just under a month we’ll be returning to the nation of Panem and the Hunger Games! I’m unbelievably excited, The Hunger Games was the series that started my love for reading as a teen and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since.

To celebrate the release of Sunrise on the Reaping I’m hosting a readathon here and on BlueSky (no affiliation with Suzanne Collins or Scholastic). I haven’t reread The Hunger Games trilogy since before The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes came out back in 2020 so figured now would be a great time to revisit them. Over the next 4 weeks I’ll be reading all three of the original HG books. I won’t be reading TBOSAS again as I reread it recently and the story is still pretty vivid in my brain. But I’ve included it as part of the readathon for anyone that is due a reread or will be experiencing the 10th Hunger Games for the first time!

READ-A-THON schedule:

  • 19 Feb – 24 March – The Hunger Games
  • 25 – 03 March – Catching Fire
  • 04 – 10 March – Mockingjay
  • 11 – 17 March – The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
  • 18 – 24 March – Sunrise on the Reaping

Join the discussion!

At the end of each reading week I’ll be posting a “Book vs Movie” post (as I’ll be rewatching the movies too) so please comment your thoughts on the book there (and the movies too if you’d like!). I’ll also be posting my thoughts on my Bluesky account so stay tuned for that.

In all honesty I’ll probably finish SOTR well before 24th March. I’ve got a few days off after its release so I’ll be speeding through it.

Are you excited for Sunrise on the Reaping? It’s definitely my most anticipated read of the year, which is saying something as there are so many amazing books being published in 2025.

Happy reading and…
