2024 was a failure for me and my reading goals. I started the year off well but any hope of achieving them completely fell off the cliff in the second half of 2024. When writing this year’s goals I decided to have less goals in total, including two which are less specific, to be used more as an approach to reading instead of a ‘tick off the list’ goal.

Read 25 books in 2025

I wanted to read 2 books per month, making my reading goal 24 books for the year. Then I thought: why not 25 books for 2025? Seems like a fun idea, well within my capabilities of achieving if I stick to my habit goal of reading at least 30 minutes per day.

Read 1 Non-fiction book per month

This is a goal rolled over from last year. I want to make sure I’m actively working to expand my knowledge and way of thinking. I’ll probably end up reading a lot of popular science books, with a sprinkling of history here and there.

Finish Series I’ve already started

A soft goal rather than a hard one. There are a few series on my shelves that I’ve started but not yet gotten to the sequels. A Song of Ice and Fire, The Bloodsworn Saga and the Age of Madness trilogy are just a few that I’m looking to finish this year, or at least just get a little further along in the series.

Get back into comic books

I used to love comic books and back in 2014-2017, it made up the bulk of my reading. I fell out of love with it the years following due to changes in the industry and community. There are a few trade paperbacks I own which I still need to read, so will be starting there. But I do want to start looking for new series that have come out more recently too.

Happy Reading! 📚

    Hey Alice,

I think you have great, reasonable reading goals for 2025.

In case you would like to join the 25for2025 reading challenge, you can easily become a participant. I would also say you don’t necessarily have to specify 25 books in advance. Just fill your list along the way.

I also have another challenge going on, fitting your reading goals. It’s called The Serial-Killer Challenge 2025 (English translation for the site will come soon).

I don’t really have reading goals set as you do, but I joined multiple challenges and I set up a huge TBR list for 2025.

I hope you’ll be able to fulfil most of your goals, but always keep in mind not to stress out. Reading is supposed to be fun, not a race to see who reads the most books.

Good luck with your goals! I would also like to read more non-fiction this year.
