Last week was very quiet and uneventful. I managed to incorporate some reading into my bedtime routine every day which is probably why I managed to finish a book in 5 days! I finish reading Bitterthorn by Kat Dunn, a cozy gothic fantasy novel about a young duchess whisked away to a castle in the deep forests of Germany to live as a witch’s companion. I loved this book, definitely a unique novel compared to the epic fantasy I usually read.

During a chilled out cocktail evening with the girlies last week, one of my friends mentioned she’d recently got back into reading and had started Pet Semetary by Stephen King. My friend G and I had spoken about reading Pet Semetary last year together but it never ended up happening. Since our other friend started it I figured now was a good time to start it – especially with spooky season slowly creeping towards us. I’ve read 244 pages out of 480 so far (according to my latest Goodreads update) and I can’t seem to put it down. I’ve tried to read several Stephen King novels in the past but for whatever reason ended up forgetting about them or simply began to read something else mid-way through. Pet Semetary is widely considered King’s best and most terrifying novel. I have to say the reincarnated cat has been pretty creepy so far.
