One of my New Year’s resolutions for 2023 was to be more consistent with my blog but unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful so far. There’s a couple reasons for this. The first is due to the nature of my job I am often in parts of the world where I don’t have regular access to the internet; the other is simply not reading enough to write reviews for. My schedule over the next few months should be a lot more consistent, both in work and location as I shouldn’t be leaving the UK for the rest of the year now. So fingers crossed there will be a lot more and regular posts on this blog!

I managed to finish two books last week:

  • The Heroes by Joe Abercrombie
  • Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

The Heroes is an absolutely brilliant novel about a single 3-day battle between the North and the Union, continuing in the World of the First Law series. I’m currently drafting the review so it should be up by the end of the week. Project Hail Mary is a funny but wholesome science fiction novel about a high school physics teacher on a suicide mission to save humanity. You can read my non-spoiler review here.

I just picked up Blue Machine: How the Ocean Shapes Our World by Helen Czerski. This is a new non-fiction release which cover the physics, biology, history and potential future of our oceans. I went to university for marine biology but haven’t properly engaged with ongoing research since I graduated several years ago. I’ve only read the introduction so far but am very excited to get into it, both to regain and further my knowledge and love for this scientific field.
