Turns out I’ve never actually done any reading updates on my blog. They’re some of my favourite posts to read but for some reason I’ve never done one before, hmm. 🤔

I finished Gallant by V.E. Schwab yesterday and unfortunately, I didn’t love it. I gave it 3 stars and am currently writing my review, planning on getting that up tomorrow. Its an ok story but didn’t have a lot of the elements I look for when I pick up a Schwab novel.

I spent most of the afternoon building one of my new bookcases. This is only a mini one with three shelves. I’ve got another arriving on Thursday which is double the height and a little wider. I believe it comes with five shelves but I think there will be space for me to fit another on there. Most of my books have been sitting in boxes since I left University back in 2018! I’ve lived at a few different places since then but never had the time or money to get some proper bookshelves. Once my second bookcase is built I’m going to organise all my books and most likely do a little unhaul. I know I’ve got too many unread books so the task I’ve set myself is that I can only keep the books that fit on the self neatly, so not just stacked up on the shelf to maximise the space. The books pictured here are just the ones I found in a couple bags for life under the dining table!

Today I am starting Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie. I loved The Blade Itself – the first instalment in The First Law trilogy. Abercrombie’s writing is just so easy to digest, I expect I’ll finish Before They Are Hanged a lot faster than the first book because I’m off work at the moment and can just spend my days doing nothing but reading. 😍
